How do you help students at East Texas A&M University?
My aspect of campus recreation deals a lot with facing challenge. The ropes course, rock wall, and trips all present challenges that help students grow. By overcoming these challenges students see that they are capable, and they can carry that through both their studies and lives. Another way I help students grow is through team building at the challenge course. A team build shows students how to work together with a wide range of people. The qualities that are amplified by a team build are used everyday in professional and personal settings. In addition to these, outdoor adventure also offers students a chance to relax outside and get in touch with nature.
A Conversation with Chance
How do you like to stay active?
I like to stay physically active in a variety of ways, but my favorites have to be swimming and climbing. I enjoy having a goal to work towards and my current goal is to do a triathlon. Mentally I stay active by reading, playing music, and playing video games with friends.
What do you like most about your career in Campus Recreation?
The thing I like most about my career in Campus Recreation is helping improve students lives through activity, especially outdoor activity. I believe everyone's life can be improved through spending more time outdoors and embracing nature. Learning about the students, their goals and aspirations, is also something I enjoy about working in Campus Recreation.
What else would you like to share about yourself or your East Texas A&M University experience?
The outdoors have been a lifelong passion of mine. Some of my best memories are from camping trips whether that was backpacking or motorcycle camping. My goal for the Outdoor Adventure program is to help ignite that passion in others so they can get outside and make memories too.
