Spooky Surprises Await at East Texas A&M’s Fright Hike

Something is lurking in the woods at East Texas A&M University. Eerie sights, strange sounds and unexpected scares await those brave enough to venture down the trail during Fright Hike, a Halloween outing with thrills in the darkness and treats by the campfire.

Hosted by Campus Recreation's Outdoor Adventure program, the free event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 28–30 at the Outdoor Adventure Center, 2320 Loop 178 in Commerce.

Participants will take a self-guided, one-mile hike around the disc golf course, with trail markers pointing the way. Several hikes will take place throughout each evening. Outdoor Adventure staff and Office of Student Engagement volunteers will provide the scares, with decorations and costumes supplied by Student Engagement.

Prefer your Halloween fun without the fright? Gather around the campfire for s'mores, Halloween music and time with friends.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome. The haunted trail is not recommended for children younger than 10.

Registration is required for all attendees, including those coming only for the campfire and s'mores. Register through the Campus Recreation portal, which can be reached with the button below. For more information, contact Chance Watley, coordinator of Outdoor Adventure, at [email protected].
