Undergraduate Recommended Course Sequence:Introduction

In accordance with Texas Senate Bill 25 (SB 25), this resource provides a comprehensive list of undergraduate degree programs East Texas A&M has to offer, along with their corresponding Recommended Course Sequences (RCS). Each RCS offers a semester-by-semester plan to help you complete your degree requirements efficiently and graduate on time.

A

Agribusiness (BS)

In our program, explore how business and agriculture intersect. We focus on topics like financial management, marketing, planning and organizational strategies. Study the technical aspects of agricultural sciences, helping you understand the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural products. This background can support opportunities in areas such as agribusiness, agricultural finance, extension services, ranch operations and related agencies or consultancies.

Agricultural Science and Technology (BS) Agriculture, Food, and Family Option

Combines three critical aspects of our survival into an academic program leading to careers in production or public service. The program includes teacher certification coursework leading to the preparation of educators in Family and Consumer Sciences but also offers other avenues for working with families as well as the agriculture and food industries.

Agricultural Science and Technology (BS) Teaching Emphasis

In our program, you'll be provided with skills in both technical and production agriculture, along with methods for teaching and planning courses. You'll have the opportunity to learn how to organize and lead on-farm agricultural instruction and demonstration programs for schools and the community, sharing valuable agricultural knowledge in various settings.

Agricultural Sciences (BS)

In our program, you'll explore topics like economics, management, plant and animal operations, pest control, and food sciences. You'll have the opportunity to study how plant and animal products are produced, used, and marketed. This background may support paths in areas such as agricultural services, sales, landscape operations, extension work, ranch management, food production, and quality control.

Agricultural Science and Technology (BS) Industry Emphasis

The Industry emphasis is available to community college transfer students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in a specialized agricultural technology area. Credit for courses in the specialized agricultural technology area will be awarded only from departmentally approved AAS programs that have articulation agreements on file with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Animal Science (BS)

In the animal science program, you'll explore topics like animal nutrition, reproductive physiology, genetics, health management, and the marketing and production of animal products. You'll have the opportunity to study basic business and management practices. This knowledge can support career paths in areas such as ranch operations, extension services, agricultural sales, regulatory agencies and technical consulting.

Animal Science Pre-Veterinary Medicine option (BS)

In our program, you'll focus on animal biology, nutrition, genetics, and health as you explore the foundations of veterinary medicine. You'll have the opportunity to study the science behind animal care and gain experience through lab work and hands-on learning, helping you build a strong background for further study in veterinary or animal-related fields.

Anthrozoology (BS)

Anthrozoology is an exploration of the intricate bonds between humans and animals, revealing how these relationships shape our lives and environments. Whether you're drawn to an animal-centric approach that highlights the lives and experiences of animals or an anthropological perspective that delves into human behavior and culture, this dynamic field invites you to uncover the many layers of interaction. Anthrozoology is a rich tapestry woven from various disciplines, including biology, sociology, psychology, communications, and animal sciences. By studying these connections, you can gain profound insights into our shared existence and the roles we play in each other's worlds.

Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS)

Our BAAS program is flexible, affordable and 100 percent online. If you have earned or worked toward an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, our innovative BAAS program will provide you with a cost-effective pathway to earning your bachelor’s degree. We will accept up to 84 hours of your previous coursework from an accredited institution, which means you are could be only 36 hours away from earning your degree!

Biological Sciences (BA/BS)

The BS or BA program at East Texas A&M University equips students with the skills needed for careers in research, sciences, or health/medicine. The program will provide students with a comprehensive overview of biological sciences. Emphasizing different levels of biology; e.g., the molecular and cellular composition of living organisms up to learning how organisms interact with the world around us.

Business Administration (BS)

Through the B.S. degree with a major in business administration, you can expect to gain a broad-based business education and have the opportunity to select elective courses to complete an interdisciplinary studies minor. Graduates of this program can qualify for entry-level management or management trainee positions in marketing, finance, real estate, retailing and wholesaling, as well as positions in government or hospital administration.

Business Analytics (BBA)

As Big Data continues to grow, professionals who can identify opportunities and solve problems using this data are highly sought after across various industries. Through our program, you can prepare for potential careers as a computer systems analyst, management analyst, business analyst, process analyst, market research analyst, operations research analyst or cybersecurity analyst.

Chemistry (BS)

Whether your interest is in the structure and chemical reactions in living systems, properties and reactions of organic or inorganic minerals and compounds, or how matter behaves on a molecular level, a degree in chemistry will prepare you for industry career or graduate studies. A wide variety of careers are available to chemists in industry, the government or academia. Options include, but are not limited to, chemical health and safety, toxicology, oil and petroleum, forensics, textiles, agriculture and food, polymers, environmental protection, and research.

Computer Information Systems (BSCIS)

This program will prepare you for a wide variety of applications found in the computing and information technology fields. With a strong foundation in programming, database technology, data structures, computer networks and application program development you will have the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as an application analyst, data analyst, data scientist, information systems management and other information technology fields.

Construction Engineering (BS)

Construction engineering is involved in the planning, management and building of structures and facilities essential to societies and communities, as well as the overall improvement in the standard of living. If you are interested in rebuilding and maintaining the current infrastructure in the United States and/or developing the new infrastructure needed to support population growth, this is your degree.

Criminal Justice (BACJ/BSCJ)

The broad field major in criminal justice is designed for students who wish to receive the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. The curriculum has a multi-disciplinary foundation, is social science oriented, is academic in content and emphasizes the development of knowledge and skills essential for a broad understanding of the criminal justice system. The objective of the major is to prepare you for entry-level positions in law enforcement, juvenile justice, courts, community-based corrections, institutional corrections and other related fields.

Criminal Justice (BS) Law Enforcement Leadership Emphasis, Competency-Based **Ideal for students with law enforcement training**

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Law Enforcement Leadership (BSCJ-CJCB) at East Texas A&M University is a 100% online, competency-based program designed specifically for first responders: law enforcement, peace officers and military personnel with existing work experience, police academy training, or other certifications. Courses are offered in an accelerated format, so students can move swiftly through material they already have mastery over, and focus more attention on topics that are new and challenging to their existing knowledge base. The courses are self-paced, so students can work according to their own schedule. Students in the BSCJ-CJCB program develop practical workplace competencies that meet current and future challenges facing first responders today.

Education (BA/BS) Bilingual Grade EC-6

Develop an in-depth understanding of multicultural learning environments with our interdisciplinary studies bachelor's degree program. If you seek to become a bilingual teacher, who provides instruction in both Spanish and English, this program requires Spanish literacy. If you seek to become a bilingual teacher, who provides instruction in English, you do not need foreign language literacy.

Environmental Science (BS)

The BS program at East Texas A&M University equips students with the skills needed for careers in pollution remediation, environmental impact assessment, regulation enforcement, research, and much more! This degree program provides students with a comprehensive overview of environmental and earth sciences using coursework, collaborative research, and firsthand field experience. This program equips students with the ability to work for private corporations or state, federal and local environmental regulatory agencies.

As an Equine Studies major, you'll explore horsemanship, equine health, reproduction, and nutrition through hands-on courses. History (BA/BS)

Through this degree you will become trained in the discipline of history. You will gain knowledge of the human past, practice historical research and writing, and learn to analyze and interpret evidence and historical interpretations. Industrial Engineering (BS)

As an industrial engineer, you will be counted upon to solve complex problems in a technological world. Industrial engineering is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. You will have an opportunity to work in a variety of organizations, including but not limited to, hospitals, engineering firms, petrochemical companies, government agencies and manufacturing.

Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Allied Health Emphasis

The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with an emphasis in allied health provides you a background in kinesiology that prepares you for an allied health graduate program. Take prerequisite courses for allied health programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and other allied health professions. Select support courses based on the prerequisites for specific professional school programs.

Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) General Kinesiology Emphasis

The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies prepares students for employment in a wide variety of settings in the fitness industry, in the sports and allied health field, rehabilitation clinics, sports teams, and more. The general kinesiology track is designed to prepare individuals for graduate school (e.g. kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy).

Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Strength and Conditioning Concentration

The strength and conditioning concentration at East Texas A&M helps you become a skilled performance coach by combining hands-on experience with a deep understanding of sports science. You’ll prepare for advanced certifications and gain the tools to succeed as a strength and conditioning coach and optimize your clients’ performance and outcomes.

The Bachelor of Science in Learning and Technology equips entry-level personnel in the field of eLearning (adult training and development) for practice in public education, private education, business, industry and non-profit organizations. Learning and technology are intertwined to develop next-generation trainers and leaders who implement technology and learning strategies across a variety of curricula and classrooms.

The BBA in Management degree offers students a solid general business foundation with an emphasis in opportunity recognition and value creation. You will learn to lead people and manage resources. You will also build a repertoire of relevant managerial tools and techniques using case studies and experiential learning methods.

Music (BA) Instrumental, Vocal, Guitar or Piano

The Bachelor of Arts with a Concentration in Music is a liberal studies degree that can prepare you for any number of music or music-related career fields. This program allows for more flexibility for students to design their own degree program. In the BA, you will also select a minor in a different department, with the help of your academic advisor. The music BA plus a minor in a different area can lead to any number of opportunities in graduate school or career options.

Organizational Leadership (BAAS) Competency-Based

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Organizational Leadership (ORGL) degree is a competency-based program that prepares innovative leaders for employment in an increasingly technological and global society. This program provides opportunities for students to receive credit for what they know and can do already, allows them to accelerate completion of their degree and — because it is fully online — students are able to plan their study schedule around the rest of their day to complete the coursework.

Explore the world from the atomic to the universal level with a degree in physics. While here, you’ll investigate the structure of matter and how it functions across space and time. You’ll have the opportunity to study asteroids, white dwarfs and binary stars with our state-of-the-art observatory and research laboratories. Our programs prepare you for graduate work or employment as professional physicists. Utilize your skills in engineering, law and medicine.

Physics (BA/BS) Teaching Emphasis

There is a growing need for STEM educators. A degree in physics with a teaching emphasis takes your knowledge to the high-school classroom. You’ll take courses in electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics and modern physics. Our program offers specialized education classes in teaching and learning physics, science and math education theory, and project-based learning in STEM. Once graduated, you’ll be certified to teach physics at the secondary level (grades 7-12).

Political Science (BA/BS)

The undergraduate bachelor's degree programs in political science are intended to introduce students to key concepts and methods used in the study of politics and government.   Through courses in American politics, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy and public policy, students develop skills in communication, critical and analytical thinking, and a deeper understanding of their personal and social responsibilities.

If you're passionate about animals, the veterinary biomedical technology program gives you the chance to explore animal science, physiology and related topics. Visual Communication (BFA) Art Direction Concentration

The concentration in Art Direction prepares students for professional positions as creative team leaders who target specific market audiences and produce client branding, single ads or campaigns in print, broadcast and interactive media. Courses in art direction and advertising emphasize the development of concepts from infancy through the finished product. The Art Direction student gains proficiency in creating headlines, copy, layout and storyboarding. All visual communication courses above the sophomore level are taught at East Texas A&M in Dallas.

Visual Communication (BFA) Design Concentration

The concentration in Design prepares students choosing to pursue a career as a design professional. Instruction focuses on an applied conceptual skill set through the development and application of the creative process, conceptual thinking, and visual problem-solving. Courses focus on client-driven projects such as packaging, paper systems, and client visual branding development.

Visual Communication (BFA) Motion Design Concentration

The concentration in Motion Design pairs creative thinking and refined design skills with computer-based multimedia and motion design. Students study a variety of media including motion graphics, animation, video, gaming concepts, interactive web, and mobile apps to become innovative multimedia designers. A broad understanding of software applications and the concepts underlying them give students the capacity to stay current in this evolving field of Visual Communication. All visual communication courses above the sophomore level are taught at East Texas A&M in Dallas.

Wildlife and Conservation Science (BS) Agriculture Track

If you’re interested in wildlife management, ecology, or biodiversity, our program offers the chance to explore those areas through fieldwork, research at the university wetland, and hands-on experiences like internships and field trips. You’ll have the opportunity to study topics such as soils, botany, zoology, and ecology, building knowledge that may support future work in wildlife and environmental fields. Our program is a collaboration between the Department of Biological and Environmental Science and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Wildlife and Conservation Science (BS) Biology Track

The BS program at East Texas A&M University equips students with the skills needed for careers as wildlife ecologists, game managers, state and federal wildlife biologists, botanists, nature preserve specialists, and much more! This program strives to provide top education through hands-on research at our university wetland, practical exercises, field trips, internships, and personal instruction in the classroom. Students learn how to deal with wildlife challenges; e.g., maintain an abundant and healthy wildlife populations and habitats with the increasing numbers of demands on natural resources. This program is offered as a collaboration between the Department of Biological and Environmental Science and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
