Elizabeth Janzen, DMA

Director, School of Music

Dr. Janzen joins East Texas A&M after 14 years at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she most recently served as professor of flute and assistant director of the School of Music. She has performed on prestigious stages, including as the winner of the Artists International Competition in New York City, and has taught at the Manhattan School of Music while inspiring young musicians through education programs with Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic. With degrees from the University of Toronto and the Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Janzen brings a wealth of experience and a passion for helping students grow as musicians and performers.

She discovered her passion for music at age 11, and her talent quickly took her to the national competition stage. She continued her musical journey at the University of Toronto before earning both her master’s and doctoral degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. In 2007, she was selected as the first flute fellow in The Academy, a prestigious post-graduate program created by Carnegie Hall, the Weill Music Institute and The Juilliard School. Today, she brings that same passion, world-class training and commitment to excellence into the classroom, inspiring students to grow as confident musicians and performers.
