The Next Step Doctoral Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 non-competitive scholarship available for new fully admitted doctoral students receiving their master's or specialist degree from East Texas A&M University. The Next Step Doctoral Scholarship is available for one academic year from the semester your master's/specialist Degree is awarded and you are admitted and enrolled in a Doctoral program.
For students receiving their master's or Specialist Degree in Summer 2026 in order to be awarded the Next Step Doctoral Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Receive your master’s/specialist degree from East Texas A&M in the Summer 2026 semester. The Graduate School will work with the Graduation Office to verify that you have met all requirements to receive your Bachelor's degree and have your degree awarded.
- Apply for and gain admission to an East Texas A&M doctoral program in the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 semester.
- Enroll in your first semester of doctoral coursework.
- Enroll in a minimum of 6 graduate semester credit hours in the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 semester.
No scholarship is required. Awards will be posted to your student account when all above requirements are met and verified. You will be notified if you are awarded a Next Step Doctoral Scholarship and your account will be credited the appropriate amount. If you are receiving financial aid during the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 semester, there may be a need to adjust your total financial aid package. - Students awarded this scholarship must be enrolled in 6 graduate semester hours of coursework in the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 semester to receive this scholarship. Withdrawing from classes or dropping below the scholarship-required minimum graduate semester hours of coursework at East Texas A&M University on or before the twelfth class day of Fall 2026/Spring 2027 or the fourth class day of the Summer 2027 semester will result in a forfeiture of the scholarship.
- Scholarship will be posted to your account by the twelfth class day of the Fall 2026 semester.
