Food Studies Minor
Our minor in Food Studies offers a chance to explore the multifaceted world of food. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the cultural, social, economic, and environmental dimensions of food systems. Through a variety of courses, our program seeks to broaden your understanding of where our food comes from, how it shapes our lives, and its impact on the world around us.
Horticulture Minor
Plant and Soil Science Graduate Certificate
In the Plant and Soil Science Graduate Certificate program, you'll explore advanced topics in plant physiology, nutrition, and production techniques. Our program offers a deeper understanding of how plants interact with their environment, providing you with skills that can be applied in various agricultural or environmental roles.
Sustainable Food Systems Graduate Certificate
Our graduate certificate program focuses on the principles of sustainable food systems. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the theories, resources, and strategies involved in fostering these vital systems. Through an interdisciplinary approach, our program seeks to examine various facets of sustainability in relation to food. You’ll engage in coursework designed to introduce you to these important concepts.
Agribusiness Graduate Certificate
In the Agribusiness Graduate Certificate program, you'll explore key concepts in agricultural economics, finance, marketing, and management. Designed to build your understanding of business practices in the agricultural sector, this program can help you strengthen your skills for roles in agribusiness, government, or related industries.

Our Facilities
- Working farm with livestock, row crops and horticultural crops; one of only three agricultural programs in the U.S. to offer a hands-on practicum to grow your own wheat, cotton or corn crop
- 100+ head commercial cow herd
- Wildlife wetland areas
- Two modern greenhouse facilities
- Newly remodeled facilities including classrooms for animal and equine science, swine barn and rodeo barn

East Texas A&M University's Tim Smith and Florence Bryant competed well and took home accolades from the 20th annual National Snaffle Bit Association World Show.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension agent and East Texas A&M University Adjunct Instructor Dr. David Drake was recently recognized as the 2025 Texas Wheat County Agent of the Year by the Texas Wheat Producers Board.

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is committed to experiential and pragmatic learning with rigorous educational programs, courses and experiences enriched by quality instruction. We offer high-quality farm and ranch enterprises that create opportunities for teaching and scholarly activities. We foster positive relationships among our faculty, staff and students and maintain a strong public presence on campus, in the community and throughout the state and agricultural industry. Students are prepared to become competent professionals through the sharing and discovery of knowledge across the varied fields of agriculture.
Vision
We will be recognized as the choice for students who seek to positively impact the agricultural industry. The college will offer various programs and opportunities. Recognition of innovative teaching, scholarship, state-of-the-art resources and collaboration with industry and institutional partners will result in school enrollment exceeding 500 students and lead by 2020.
