Katie Mersch, D.M.A. Adjunct Instructor of Music in Voice

Katie Mersch, soprano, received her DMA and MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She holds a BM in Vocal Performance and BM in Vocal Church Music from St. Olaf College. In addition to teaching voice at East Texas A&M University, Dr. Mersch serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Adjunct Instructor at Dallas College. She previously held teaching positions at Southeast Community College, Iowa Western Community College, Grace University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a graduate teaching assistant.
As an active performing artist, Dr. Mersch has appeared in recital venues, on the operatic stage and in choral ensembles. Stage credits include Antonia (understudy) in Les contes d'Hoffmann, Victoria in Bolcom's A Wedding, and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, in addition to performing in the opera chorus with Opera Omaha for several seasons. She has sung with the St. Olaf Choir directed by Dr. Anton Armstrong, the Kansas City Symphony Chorus led by Dr. Charles Bruffy and currently the Highland Park Chorale conducted by Dr. Greg Hobbs. Most recently, she presented a faculty recital and sang as a featured soloist in Prelude to Christmas at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and performed in Her Story Benefit Concert.
