Cristian Paez-Geney

Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life

Cristian Camilo Paez Geney is originally from Cartagena, Colombia. He had the opportunity to finish a bachelor's in business administration and music performance at Northwestern State University in 2022. Cristian got initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. in 2020 and was involved in the mentor peer program. He worked for the men's basketball program as an Administrator Operations Coordinator from 2023 to 2024, and he started his master’s at East Texas A&M University in Spring 2024. Cristian has served as a Facilitator for the University of Louisiana System, study abroad experience since 2023.

During his master’s journey, Cristian had the opportunity to be a Graduate Assistant for the College of Education and Human Services in a summer seasonal position providing guidance to non-traditional students. He then transitioned into the Residential Living and Learning Department, where Cristian gained the position of Graduate Community Coordinator.

What do you love most about your job?

I am passionate about working with students, helping them succeed in their careers, creating a good learning environment, and providing as much support as I can.

What sets East Texas A&M apart from other universities?

From the moment I arrived at East Texas A&M University, I realized that there is quite an array of students, and I consider that that separates it from other institutions. As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc. And being an international student, it makes me very happy to be on such a welcoming campus. Provide the opportunity to many of them to seek a better future, an opportunity for personal and professional growth.

What is an important life lesson you’ve learned?

Being an international student and facing different obstacles in my life on a personal and professional level, I have learned that when you want to achieve a goal you can, we set the limits and barriers ourselves.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I like to practice saxophone, exercise and play soccer.

Fun Fact

I am trying my best to learn French, I play saxophone, and in my free time, I like to share time with friends and work out.
