As a graduate student in the Department of Literature and Languages, you have at your disposal a number of resources and opportunities offered at the department and university levels.
Student Travel Funding Request
Invited to present your research at a conference? We may be able to help! Each year, the department and the Graduate School make funding available for graduate students attending and presenting at conferences within the United States.
To apply for funding, submit the request form(s) below with required documentation. Upon returning from travel, begin the expense reimbursement process by submitting itemized receipts, the completed travel form and required documents.
Don’t delay! Submit your request no fewer than 30 days before traveling, as funding is subject to availability.
Graduate Assistantships
Want to work with us? The Department of Literature and Languages offers several types of graduate assistantships each semester:
GAR – Graduate Assistant Researcher
- Assist the Writing Center, Applied Linguistics Lab, or individual faculty with research and daily operations.
GAToR – Graduate Assistant Teacher of Record
- Gain hands-on experience teaching college-level freshman composition courses for the Writing Program.
- Must have completed 18 hours of graduate coursework to be eligible.

East Texas A&M Thesis/Dissertation Database
Not sure if your topic has already been researched? The Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETDs) collection contains links to the final, digitized papers submitted to the Graduate School for completion of a master’s or doctoral program. The current collection consists of ETDs from 2011 to present that are available in the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database. Legacy theses and dissertations are added as they are digitized.
