Export Controls laws restrict the shipment, transmission or transfer of certain items, software, technology and services from the United States to foreign countries, as well as “deemed exports” which are releases of controlled physical items or controlled information to foreign nationals located in the United States. Employees and students traveling on East Texas A&M business or traveling with East Texas A&M property are responsible for complying with Export Controls laws and regulations when traveling outside the U.S.

High Risk Global Engagement and High Risk International Collaborations
The Texas A&M University System and East Texas A&M University are committed to protecting the integrity of research and educational programs. Global engagements in the pursuit of mutually beneficial fundamental scientific inquiry, cultural, or educational opportunities strengthen the academic and research programs and are fundamental to the university's educational system. The System Regulation 15.05.04, High Risk Global Engagements and High Risk International Collaborations, provides guidelines and restrictions related to high risk global engagements and international collaborations.

Export Controls Training
Export Controls training is available through the Collaborative Institutional Training Institute (CITI). Please follow the steps below and begin your training.

- Click “New Users Register Here”
- Select East Texas A&M University as your participating institution
- Complete the remaining registration form choosing ‘CITI Export Controls’ at question #6.
