Curriculum

The Master of Science in Computer Science program at East Texas A&M University offers two distinct pathways to accommodate students’ academic interests and career goals:

Option I: Thesis

The research-oriented track requires the completion of 31 semester hours, including a 6-hour thesis component. Curriculum encompasses core courses such as Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis, Operating Systems, Algorithm Design and Automata Theory. You will also select a specialization track—Software Engineering and Big Data, Computer Networks and Cyber Security or Artificial Intelligence—comprising two courses (6 semester hours). Finally, an additional elective course (3 semester hours) completes the program.

Option II: Non-Thesis

If you prefer to seek advanced coursework without a research focus, the 34 semester hour non-thesis track may be for you. Complete a 3-hour research course, “Research Literature and Techniques,” alongside the same core courses as the thesis option. Additionally, you will choose a specialization track—Software Engineering and Big Data, Computer Networks and Cyber Security or Artificial Intelligence—comprising two courses (6 semester hours), and complete the program with three elective courses (9 semester hours).
