A Conversation with Bryton
Why did you choose East Texas A&M?
I chose East Texas A&M for the Department of Psychology and Special Education‘s great reputation and the fact that it’s close to home, which is helpful when pursuing higher education. East Texas A&M also has an engaging campus life, faculty and staff mentors, and helpful students.
What are your career goals? How does your degree program help?
My career goals focus on clinical work in a hospice/nursing home setting. I am currently exploring mental health management in these settings. So far, the academic requisites of this certificate program have prepared me by providing knowledge in cognitive aging, gerontology, developmental psychology, health psychology, and professional ethics.
Which professor or person on campus has positively influenced you? How so?
Dr. Lacy Krueger has been the utmost positive influence in my current degree program. She has helped me obtain the certificate and enlightened my understanding of aging. Dr. Benton Pierce is another positive influence who aided my research in aging and helped me learn the fundamentals of psychology, including psychophysiology.
