Student Funding Options: Emergency Book Credits

Emergency Book Credits are exclusively provided to students that have been awarded financial aid through East Texas A&M University and are awaiting disbursement of their award.

Eligibility Requirements for Requesting Emergency Book Credit

  • Students must accept their awarded aid in the financial aid portal via their myLEO account.
  • The awarded amount of aid must be sufficient to cover all outstanding tuition and university fees and charges, including the amount of this book credit request.

Financial Aid Verification

  • The Cashier's office will review eligibility based on students awarded aid upon receiving the Emergency Book Credit Request form. The Cashier's Office is not able to determine when a student's financial aid will be disbursed. Please refer to the Financial Aid Office for any questions regarding financial aid awards.

Student Responsibility for the Book Credit Request

  • When approved, students can use the Book Credit at the campus bookstore. This Book Credit is a loan in the form of credit and not a cash advance and must be paid in full when financial aid awards have been processed. All University charges, including the amount of emergency book credits you receive, will be deducted from your financial aid award prior to any refunds issued. If your financial aid is canceled or modified for any reason, reflecting that your emergency book credit is not paid as expected, you must pay the amount due, in full, on or before the last class day of the current semester.

No Cash Refunds

  • The Emergency Book Credit will not exceed more than $500.00. The campus bookstore will NOT provide cash refunds for books purchased with the book loan credit request. If items are returned and you are due a refund/credit, the credit will be adjusted accordingly on your student account by the Cashier’s Office.

University Campus Bookstore

  • While purchasing books through the campus bookstore is not mandatory, it is currently the only method available to use the Emergency Book Credit.
