The Opportunity
East Texas A&M University seeks an accomplished, forward-looking academic leader to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. As the University’s chief academic officer and a principal strategic partner to President Mark Rudin, the Provost will provide vision and leadership for the academic enterprise while helping shape the institution’s continued advancement in academic excellence, student success, research, and regional impact.

Working collaboratively with President Mark Rudin, the University’s executive leadership team, deans, faculty, staff, students, and other key stakeholders, the next Provost will champion faculty achievement and development, foster a culture of shared governance and academic excellence, and guide thoughtful decisions about programs, curriculum, and the future academic portfolio.
The Provost will also strengthen graduate education and research in partnership with institutional leaders and help ensure that every student benefits from a rigorous, relevant, and career-connected educational experience that reflects the promise of Lion Made.

Greenwood Asher & Associates (GA&A) will meet with the Search Committee and university stakeholders to gather input on the position, leadership priorities, and opportunities for East Texas A&M University's next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. - August–September 2026 | Recruitment & Application Period
The position profile will be finalized and distributed, advertising and outreach will begin, nominations will be sought, and GA&A will conduct recruiting conversations and review applications. - September 25, 2026 | Best Consideration Date
Applicants are encouraged to submit their materials by September 25, 2026, for best consideration. Applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. - Early-October, 2026 | Candidate Review & Selection
The Search Committee will review the candidate pool and select candidates to advance to first-round interviews. - Mid-October, 2026 | First-Round Interviews
Selected candidates will participate in virtual interviews with the Search Committee. Finalists will be identified for further consideration. - Early November 2026 | Finalist Campus Visits

The selected candidate is anticipated to begin serving as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in January 2027.
