Taking Classes

Designed for working professionals and those seeking to advance their knowledge, our master’s program in mathematics offers a flexible way to earn your degree. Enjoy the convenience of hybrid course delivery, with classes offered in both online and face-to-face formats at the Mesquite Metroplex Center or our main campus location in Commerce.

Curriculum

At East Texas A&M University, our Master of Science in Mathematics program offers two distinct pathways to accommodate a range of academic interests and career aspirations.

Option I (Thesis)

This 30-credit hour program is designed for students aiming to engage in mathematical research or pursue doctoral studies. Complete 15 semester hours of core coursework, 9 semester hours of electives and a 6-credit hour thesis.

Option II (Non-Thesis)

For individuals seeking advanced mathematical training without a research focus, the 36-credit hour non-thesis program may be for you. Complete 15 semester hours of core courses, 6 semester hours of concentration courses, 12 semester hours of electives and a 3-credit hour research project.

Note: Core courses are identical for both the thesis and non-thesis options.

If you have not already done so, complete the Request Information form. You will be connected with your enrollment specialist, who can answer your questions. When you’re ready, go ahead and follow the steps below to apply.

Admissions Requirements

  • GPA minimum 2.5
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • If a WES ICAP or equivalent is submitted, we will not need the official transcripts to be submitted separately.

You do not need to submit test scores if you have completed (all years) of a bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited university in the United States.

Request that your scores from one of the following be sent to East Texas A&M University:

  • TOEFL (Minimum Scores: IBT 79, or CBT 213, or PBT 550)
  • IELTS (Minimum Score: 6.00 band overall)
  • PTE (Minimum Score: 53 overall or higher)
  • Duo Lingo (Minimum Score: 105)
