Travel Office Internal Resources: Washington D.C. Travel

Under Texas law, employees of East Texas A&M University who travel to the Washington, D.C., area using state-appropriated funds must report certain travel to the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations (OSFR) in advance of departure.

You must submit an OSFR travel report if your trip involves:

  • Activities to obtain or spend federal funds, or
  • Activities intended to impact federal legislation, regulations or policy (including meetings with members of Congress, congressional staff or federal agencies).

The required State-Funded Travel to Washington, D.C. form is available on the OSFR website and must be completed prior to travel. A copy of the submitted form or confirmation email should be attached to your university travel authorization and retained with your travel documentation.

Submission of the OSFR form does not constitute travel approval. You must still follow all university travel authorization and reimbursement procedures.
