Thesis and Dissertation Services (TDS) supports graduate students throughout the thesis and dissertation process by providing templates, formatting requirements, deadlines, submission guidance, and document review. TDS conducts a format-only review of proposal and final documents.
Your department and advisor determine the disciplinary style guide you should follow. Students are responsible for the content, writing, citations, and disciplinary style of their work while also meeting TDS formatting requirements.

October 23, 2026
Last day to hold a final dissertation defense for Fall 2026 graduates.
November 6, 2026
Last day TDS will accept final thesis or dissertation submissions for Fall 2026 graduation.
November 20, 2026
Deadline to submit master’s/specialist comprehensive examination reports for Fall 2026
November 25, 2026
Last day TDS will accept thesis or dissertation proposal submissions for Fall 2026 approval.
December 11, 2026
Graduate commencement.
Defense Scheduling
Dissertation proposal and final defense schedule forms are due by the 20th of the month before the defense. Final thesis defense notification is due to TDS at least 7 days before the defense.
Submission reminder: When a deadline says “last day TDS will accept,” the form and document must have completed all required approvals and reached the TDS queue by that date.
