A Conversation with Makenzie

What is your major or dream career?

Animal Science Pre-Vet

What is your current campus involvement?

On Campus Committee Head for Agriculture Ambassadors, member of the veterinary society, Honors College member

Why do you think it is important to get involved on campus?

I think it is important to get involved because it allows you to find your place and people in college. You are in such a unique time in your life when you are in college, and no other time in your life will be like college. By getting involved, you are able to not only grow your network but also make memories.

What do you think the role of a Peer Mentor is?

The role of a peer mentor is to connect students with resources across campus that can help make them successful. Peer Mentors are also there for students when they need encouragement or a friend as they transition into college.

What’s a valuable piece of advice you might give a student at ETAMU?

One piece of advice that I would give students is to always ask for help, no matter what. East Texas A&M is such a unique campus because it offers so many resources for students on just about anything, while still feeling like a small school. There are so many resources offered to students, but you cannot get help without asking.
