a conversation with Kimberley Morgan-thompson
How do you help students at East Texas A&M?
I facilitate the academic, personal, and professional success of students by fostering their confidence, assisting in goal development, managing challenges, and establishing a clear pathway toward graduation and career achievement.
What do you love most about your career?
What I love most about my career is the ability to make a lasting impact in students' lives. Every student has a story, a struggle, and untapped potential. Being able to encourage, guide, and support students as they discover who they are and who they can becomes is incredibly meaningful to me.
What do you like doing when you're not working?
In my leisure time, I take great pleasure in engaging with my husband, family, and friends.
What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
One of my favorite spots on campus is Charles S. Garvin Lake because it has a quiet sitting area where I can watch the ducks and geese.
Who has been a role model for you and why?
My mother is my greatest role model because she demonstrated strength, sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love every single day. As a young single mother raising my brother and me, she worked hard to provide stability, encouragement, and opportunities despite the challenges she faced. She taught me the value of perseverance, faith, hard work, showing up for the people you love, and caring for the underserved. Watching her overcome obstacles with grace and determination inspired the woman, leader, and mentor I am today.
