Annual Research Symposium: Oral Presentation Guidelines
Oral presentations are used to present projects in which data collection and analysis have been largely completed.
Although the use of a visual aid is highly encouraged, the decision is entirely up to the student and the advisor.
Find below a list of approved PowerPoint templates for your oral presentation. You will be required to use one of these templates if presenting using PowerPoint.
- Oral presentations are 12 minutes long: 8 minutes for presentation and 4 minutes for questions from judges. The remaining time in your session will be open for audience Q&A.
- Visual aids should be displayed in a logical sequence (e.g. abstract, introduction, method and results or conclusion). Headings may vary by discipline, so check with your faculty advisor for guidance.
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled session time to perform a sound check and to ensure everything is working properly for your presentation.
