Campus Hazing Transparency Report

As a part of the Stop Campus Hazing Act implementation, institutions are required to provide education on the Campus Hazing Transparency Report by December 23, 2025.

The Stop Campus Hazing Act represents a nationwide commitment to fostering campus communities built on respect, responsibility and safety. East Texas A&M University is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the campus community. Hazing in any form is strictly prohibited by students, student groups or employees. This statement identifies ETAMU’s approach to hazing awareness and prevention as well as reporting requirements in accordance with institutional policies and applicable jurisdictional laws.

Consent to hazing is not a defense under the law, and organizations found guilty may be fined. ETAMU is committed to consistently provide ongoing education to the campus community as well as policy enforcement.

Campus Hazing Transparency Report Coming December 23, 2025

Understanding ASR and CHTR

  • Annual Security Report (ASR): The Annual Security Report is published every year by October 1st and contains three years of selected campus crime statistics and certain campus security policy statements for the 2025 ‐ 2026 academic year in accordance with the Clery Act. It statistics on reported hazing incidents that occur within Clery geography and involve any individual or organization will be published each year by October 1.
  • Campus Hazing Transparency Report (CHTR): This report will share confirmed findings of hazing violations involving recognized or established student organizations, regardless of where the incident occurred. The first CHTR must be published by December 23, 2025.

Publication schedule

  • The Annual Security Report (ASR) will be published annually on October 1.
  • The Campus Hazing Transparency Report (CHTR) will be updated at least twice annually beginning December 2025.

Implementation Timeline

  • January 1, 2025: Institutions began to collect statistics on hazing Incidents
  • July 1, 2025: Institutions began collecting information with respect to hazing incidents/violations
  • October 1, 2026: First ASR (Annual Security Report) with hazing data
  • Note: The Stop Campus Hazing Act Requirements based on the law's enactment date of December 23, 2024.
