Risk Management Resources: Insurance
obtaining insurance
East Texas A&M collaborates with The Texas A&M University System’s Risk Management office to acquire and manage insurance policies and self-insured programs. All insurance purchases require prior review and approval from the Office of Risk Management at East Texas A&M in conjunction with the A&M System’s Risk Management office. As a state institution, East Texas A&M benefits from sovereign immunity, with liability limits established by the Texas Tort Claims Act.
Third-party event insurance
The Texas A&M University System, as a participant in the University Risk Management Insurance Association (URMIA), provides access to the URMIA Tenant and Users Liability Insurance Program (TULIP). This program enables third-party organizations to obtain insurance for specific events hosted on the East Texas A&M campus. It is designed to offer affordable general liability insurance and accident medical coverage for external users of East Texas A&M facilities. The process is conducted entirely online.
Third-party organizations can visit the TULIP website to obtain quotes.
Sample of Certificate of Insurance (COI)
First-time users of the site must register and create an account. For assistance in obtaining the institution ID, email [email protected]. The quoting and purchasing process will be conducted directly between the third-party organization and the insurer.
Study Abroad Insurance
East Texas A&M partners with Cultural Insurance Services International for its sponsored study abroad programs.
