A conversation with Terron
Why did you choose your major/what draws you to your discipline?
I chose to pursue a master's degree in reading because literacy is the cornerstone of learning. I've seen how the ability to read well transforms students' confidence, academic growth and opportunities. My studies at East Texas A&M strengthened my understanding of how to deliver intentional, responsive instruction that meets diverse learners where they are and helps them grow.
Tell us about an accomplishment you are proud of.
I am proud of being selected as an Upcoming Literacy Leader in 2023 and receiving a grant to attend the 2024 Texas Association for Literacy Education (TALE) Conference. Both experiences allowed me to connect with passionate educators and deepen my expertise. I am also proud of writing the fourth-grade writing curriculum for Allen ISD. Developing the curriculum independently was a challenging and rewarding experience that strengthened my ability to design meaningful instruction and support writing development at a broader scale.
