What Is First-gen Week?

National First-Generation Celebration Week (First-Gen Week) is a dedicated time to honor students who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree. It's a week of community, resources, storytelling and practical support—designed to amplify voices, build connections and spotlight the programs that help first-gen students thrive.

Dual Credit Decision Day

Thursday, November 6 | Check-in 9 a.m. | Open Session 9:30 a.m.

This signature event is designed to give dual-credit and transfer students a clear, supportive and celebratory path to becoming Lions. Students can visit campus, connect with key offices, turn in outstanding documents and — in many cases — receive an on-the-spot admission decision.

What to Expect
  • 9 a.m. Check-In: Welcome table, event packet, name badge and a swag bag.
  • 9:30 a.m. Open Session: Campus partners and student leaders will provide a warm welcome, outline the day and share next steps.
  • Admissions Drop-Off and On-the-Spot Decisions: Bring your transcripts and required documents. Our admissions team will review files and may provide an admissions decision during the event.
  • Advising Appointments: Meet academic advisors to discuss major pathways, transfer credit evaluation and class registration planning.
  • Financial Aid Counseling: Talk with financial aid staff about FAFSA, scholarships and payment plans.
  • Campus Tours: Lion Ambassadors will lead tours so families and students can see campus life first-hand.
  • Next Steps Station: Enrollment deposits, orientation sign-ups, technology activation, housing inquiries—get it done on site.
Who Should Attend

Dual-credit students, community college transfers, adults returning to school, and any prospective transfer students who want a fast, supportive way to get an admissions decision and next-step assistance.

How to Prepare

  • Bring a photo ID and any completed admissions forms.
