Few figures rival Professor Jim Keene as an innovator and change-maker within the School of Music. When he arrived at our university in 1975, he took a struggling band and turned it into a program that was the envy of university and college band directors throughout Texas and beyond.

Known for his ability to attract and engage gifted and passionate band students, Keene was a great teacher, mentor and dedicated musician. Those whose lives he touched are forever changed.
