Honors College Guide: Admitted Student Checklist

Congratulations on your admission to the Honors College! Here's a checklist of important next steps to complete over the coming months.

1. Check Your ETAMU LeoMail Regularly

Staying on top of your ETAMU email ensures you won't miss any important updates or deadlines.

  • Set up your myLeo account on your phone or Google platforms.
  • We'll send important updates about Spring, Summer, and Fall actions and activities—don't miss out!

2. Complete and Submit Your Housing Application (if living on campus)

Completing your housing application early helps secure your preferred accommodations on campus.

  • Sign in to myLeo → select AppsResidential Living & LearningAPPLY FOR FALL 2026/SPRING 2027 (blue and gold button).
  • The application fee and general info section are currently open. Housing and Meal Plan Contracts will be available starting April 1st. Contracts must be completed to be assigned a room.
  • Students with financial hardship may email [email protected] from their myLeo account to apply the $125 fee to the Fall 2026 balance. Include first name, last name, and CWID. The email must come from your student leomail.
  • First-year Honors College students will select one of the required meal plan options during the application.
  • Do not select a room in the housing portal. Exit the application when you reach the room selection step. Ignore emails about “Room Selection” or “Room Selection Timeslot.”
  • Honors College students should not apply for first-year Living & Learning Communities (LLCs), as this requirement is not compatible with Honors housing.

3. Submit Vaccination

Submitting your Meningitis vaccination record is a state requirement and necessary for moving into campus housing.

  • All students under 22 must have a current meningitis vaccination on file to live on campus.
  • Visit our website for instructions on submitting your records.

4. Mark Your Calendar for Admitted Students Day

Attending Admitted Students Day helps you get familiar with campus life and connect with other students.

  • Date: TBD (Generally in April)
  • The university will provide programming to help you get acquainted with the campus.
  • Honors College Student Social to be announced
  • Action Items:
    • [Register for Admitted Students Day] – Registration coming soon
    • [RSVP to the Honors Student Social] – Details coming soon

5. Attend Honors College Orientation

Orientation is required to receive your Honors College scholarship and complete university onboarding.

  • Date: TBD (generally in the summer)
  • Students attending the orientation session will complete both Honors and university orientation requirements.
  • Sign up through your Student Application Portal for your ROAR session.

6. Apply for Scholarships

Applying early for scholarships can help reduce your college costs and maximize funding opportunities.

  • Some students receive internal scholarships (Blue and Gold, Presidential, etc.) and can accept multiple awards.
  • Also consider high school or external scholarships, which may reduce your personal expenses.
  • Apply through the university's scholarship portal by March 1, 2026.

7. Submit Dual Credit, AP, or IB Records

Submitting official transcripts and test scores ensures you receive credit for courses you've already completed.

  • Dual Credit: Submit official transcripts directly from your college/university once the Spring 2026 semester ends.
  • AP Exams: Request scores to be sent to ETAMU. Spring exams are sent in July.
  • IB Exams: Request scores to be sent to ETAMU. Spring exams are released in July.
  • These steps ensure you do not enroll in courses for which you have already earned credit.

8. Fall 2026 Course Registration

Preparing for course registration early helps you secure the classes you need for your degree plan.

  • Registration details and appointments will be sent via email.
  • Your Honors advisor, Miranda Phillips, will guide your sessions.
  • Due to FERPA, advising sessions are reserved for students and advisors only.
