Deena Besson Faculty Health Services Administration
- Faculty

Like many students in the College of Innovation and Design, Deena Besson was a non-traditional student. She completed her bachelor's degree while working full time and finished her master's degree several years later.
Besson gained extensive professional experience in healthcare and reports that she continuously felt called throughout her career to teach. She knew that East Texas A&M was where she needed to be when she learned the university would be creating a competency-based program for working adults in healthcare.
She is passionate about helping non-traditional students realize their potential and further themselves through education.
A Conversation with Deena
What do you like most about your career?
I love that I can use my experience to provide a program where students can advance their careers through education. I was once a healthcare worker looking for a pathway to career advancement, and that I can now be a part of that pathway for others makes me truly excited.
What is a current project in which you are involved?
I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Education with a focus on curriculum and instruction. I am actively using this opportunity to ensure that I am the best possible instructor I can be for my students, and provide them the top education in the Healthcare Administration field.
