Angela Klienlein is originally from Wyoming and now happily calls Texas home (again). She first attended college in Texas on a Dance scholarship and quickly fell in love with the state’s culture! Angela is passionate about supporting students and helping them reach their academic goals. She is married with a blended family of four kids. In Angela’s free time, she enjoys spending time with my husband and kids while they explore Texas.

How do you help students in your current role?
I guide students in course selection, degree requirements, and provide resources to support their academic success and achieve their goals.
What do you love most about your job?
Building relationships with my students to understand their goals and aspirations.

How did you become (your current role)? What earlier positions/jobs did you have that prepared you for this?
I began my advising career as a registration clerk, assisting with academic advising, degree planning, and course registration. This gave me a solid understanding of academic policies and student needs. My experience as a nurse strengthened my communication, problem-solving, and support skills, which I now apply in my role as an academic advisor to help students navigate their academic journey.
What is an important life lesson you've learned?
An important life lesson I've learned is that it's okay to ask for help and lean on others for support. Whether it's seeking advice from role models, mentors, or relying on a friend, we achieve success together.
What do you like to do when you're not working?
I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring antique stores.
Who has been a role model for you and why?
A former supervisor was an influential role model I had early in my career. And what I learned from her was how important it is to build real connections with people, be an active listener, and always approach things with kindness and understanding.
