
ETAMU Ranks Among the Top Nursing, Engineering, and Social Mobility Programs in U.S. News & World Report 2025
The 2025 U.S. News rankings showcase ETAMU's dedication to quality programs, affordability and life-changing opportunities for students.
East Texas A&M University has once again earned national recognition in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings, released September 23. The university earned strong placement across multiple categories, reflecting its commitment to educational excellence and student success.
Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programs Rankings
East Texas A&M’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program earned high marks in the Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs category, ranking
- #8 in Texas (tie)
- Top 31% nationally (214 out of 686 ranked schools, tie)
The rankings are determined using survey scores from top academics and officials who evaluate undergraduate BSN programs at accredited nursing schools.
Dr. Raymond Green, dean of the College of Education and Human Services, praised the faculty and students in the BSN program:

Best Undergraduate Engineering Program Rankings
East Texas A&M University also earned distinction in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs category, ranking
- #8 in Texas (tie)
- Top 56% nationally (162 out of 291 ranked schools, tie)
Programs included in these rankings are ABET-accredited and evaluated through peer assessment surveys.
Dr. Burchan Aydin, head of the Department of Engineering and Technology, stated:
“This ranking reflects the dedication of our faculty, the hard work of our students, and our commitment to providing a high-quality, hands-on engineering education that prepares graduates for successful careers.”
“Earning the #8 ranking in Texas is a testament to our commitment to innovation, discovery and our mission of transforming lives through engineering education,” added Dr. Andrea Graham, dean of the College of Science and Engineering.
East Texas A&M offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
National Recognition for Social Mobility
East Texas A&M is also recognized by U.S. News as a Top Performer in Social Mobility, reflecting a commitment to helping students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds achieve their goals and transform their lives. Specifically, the ranking looks at an institution's ability to help students from low-income families—identified as Pell Grant recipients—enroll in college and graduate.

Since nearly 67% of students at East Texas A&M are the first in their families to attend college, and many are from low-income families, this social mobility ranking highlights the university's impact on helping students overcome barriers and transform their lives.
Dr. Dan Su, executive director of Institutional Research, noted that East Texas A&M promotes social mobility among its students in several ways, including keeping tuition and fees affordable. Su emphasized that while the cost of college has increased sharply across the nation, East Texas A&M has not raised in-state tuition and fees for five consecutive years, keeping higher education accessible for students.

Prospective students and families widely use the U.S. News & World Report rankings to compare colleges, particularly outside their region. The rankings also help universities showcase quality programs, attract students and faculty, and benchmark against peer institutions.
