East Texas A&M University alum Sundeep Bobba has co-authored a book with Naga Sujitha Vummaneni, published by Apress in July 2026. CI/CD as a Control System: Designing Cloud, DevOps, and DevSecOps Platforms for Scale, Stability, and Autonomous Delivery is a book that introduces a new way of thinking about software delivery, focusing on real enterprise problems, such as release risk, noisy signals and unstable pipelines, helping readers understand how decisions are made inside delivery systems.

Bobba earned his Master of Science in Computer Science and credited his graduate education with helping shape many of the ideas presented in the book. His graduate studies at East Texas A&M gave him a strong foundation in structured problem-solving, software engineering, systems thinking and the application of technology to complex real-world challenges. He states that those skills have stayed with him throughout his career.

The book challenges conventional views of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD). Rather than treating software delivery as a collection of tools and automated pipelines, the authors present it as a control system that relies on feedback, measurement, governance and continuous improvement.

“This book represents the intersection of what I learned academically and what I've experienced building and scaling technology in the real world,” Bobba said. “My goal was to challenge the traditional view of CI/CD as simply a pipeline and offer a systems-based approach to building software delivery platforms that are secure, resilient, scalable and ready for an AI-driven future.”

Bobba has spent more than 16 years designing and operating enterprise cloud and software delivery platforms. His experience in the field helped shape the concepts explored throughout the book.

Bobba and Vummaneni wanted to provide a practical framework that brings together DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud computing, observability, governance and artificial intelligence into a single, connected delivery system. Through their book CI/CD as a Control System, they did just that.
