ETAMU Alumna Launches Law Firm Focused on Second Chances

East Texas A&M University alum Destiny M. Hibbler-Wiley has launched The Wiley Law Group, a post-conviction and appellate law firm in her hometown of Fort Worth. Founded on July 1, 2026, the firm is dedicated to helping individuals seek second chances for people the justice system has left behind. The launch marks a homecoming for Hibbler-Wiley, who returned to Texas after building a career in federal defense and national policy work across Florida and beyond.

As founder and managing attorney, Hibbler-Wiley focuses on representing individuals who are still incarcerated and fighting for release, clearing their record or rebuilding their lives. Through The Wiley Law Group, she aims to provide legal support to those navigating a complex justice system and pursuing opportunities for relief through appeals and post-conviction proceedings.

“So many people are serving sentences that no longer reflect who they are, or that the law itself has since moved away from, and too often, they’re fighting alone,” Hibbler-Wiley said. “I started The Wiley Law Group because I believe everyone deserves a second look and a lawyer who won’t stop fighting when the system does. Bringing this work home to Texas, the community that raised me, makes it even more meaningful.”

Hibbler-Wiley earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Political Science from East Texas A&M in 2019 before earning her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2023. She credits her ETAMU experience with helping shape the perspective that informs her legal work today.

Her studies in psychology and political science provided a foundation for understanding both individual experiences and the systems that influence them. This approach remains central to her work in post-conviction advocacy. She said the university provided both the foundation and confidence to pursue a career fighting for justice.
