  • Use the Right Platform: This event will be hosted on Zoom. Make sure you're familiar with the platform before the session.

  • Check Your Email: You'll receive important event details—including directions, parking info, and your orientation checklist—in your inbox. Don't forget to save this email for easy access.
  • Know Where to Go: Orientation is in person! Make sure to review your email for the exact location and any special instructions before you leave.

It is recommended that you complete the following:

    1. Verify your bacterial meningitis status and requirements.
    2. Submit official and final high school transcripts and any required college transcripts.
      • Send your school transcript via our secure document upload: tamuc.edu/sendtranscripts or request that your official high school transcript and transcripts for any college credit you have completed be sent to the Admissions office electronically or via mail in a sealed envelope to:

    3. Verify your TSI (Texas Success Initiative) requirements.
    4. Upload your photo and create your digital credential (Digital Lion Card)
    5. Once all the items above have been completed, contact your advisor and register for classes.

Please follow these steps to submit your ROAR reservation:

  3. Select your preferred ROAR session and complete your reservation.

Any student with prior college experience, transferring from a 4-year university, or who graduated from high school over 2 years ago and attending East Texas A&M as an adult learner student must complete an online orientation. A session link will be sent to your email address.

Students enrolled in our 100% online degree programs and Competency-Based Programs (CBE) are required to complete an online orientation and should contact their advisor to get started: [email protected]

ROAR Frequently Asked Questions

Am I required to attend ROAR?

All freshmen students who are newly attending East Texas A&M after high school graduation or have earned less than 12 transferrable credit hours from a prior 2-year college experience are required to attend either a virtual or an in-person session. An optional program for parents and families will also be available. Any student with more than 12 transferrable credit hours of prior college experience (after high school graduation) transferring from a 4-year university, or who graduated from high school more than 2 years ago must complete an online orientation.

How do I sign up for a ROAR session?

Freshman and Transfer students from a 2-year community college or university, once admitted to East Texas A&M, can reserve a spot for a ROAR session by logging into the Applicant Portal. All other students will receive a link to the online orientation via email.

Is there a cost for ROAR?

ROAR is an important step in your enrollment process at East Texas A&M and is mandatory for all new incoming students. The fee for ROAR is $100 and assessed to ALL new students without exception, participation, and regardless of what type of session you complete. The ROAR fee posts directly to your student account. If applicable, financial aid can apply to ROAR charges, otherwise, this communication confirms your responsibility for payment of the $100 ROAR fee.

Are parents or family members required to attend ROAR?

No, the Parent and Family Orientation is an optional program that parents and family members may attend if desired.
