Last Sunday, East Texas A&M University students, employees and alumni gathered at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, for an afternoon taking in America's pastime on “ETAMU Day.”

Held for the sixth consecutive year, ETAMU Day saw the Texas Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a Sunday afternoon showdown.

Lions from all over converged on the stadium, with purchasers of the special ETAMU Day ticket receiving a free, exclusive Lions and Rangers co-branded hat, which proves popular each year.

Texas A&M University System Chancellor Glenn Hegar attended the game and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

From seasoned baseball fans to first-timers, the game brought together members of the Lion family for a fun afternoon.

“I'm excited, I've never been to a Rangers game before,” said Aujarai Ivy, a recent graduate in Summer 2026, before the game. “It's even better to get to experience it while supporting ET.”

Another 2026 graduate, Jennifer Morse, is no stranger to Globe Life Field. She and her family have attended several Rangers games this season for free, thanks to the ETAMU free-ticket program for students, faculty, and staff, which is new for this year.

“We love coming to Rangers games, and the free tickets we have gotten through the university have truly blessed us,” Morse said. “I'm hoping for a Rangers win, and maybe a Jake Burger home run!”

Morse wouldn't leave disappointed, as Rangers first baseman Burger hit two dingers in the game, while the home team came back from a four-run deficit to emerge victorious by a score of 8-6.

Current student Tiffini Watson said after the game that she had a great experience and is looking forward to the next edition.

“I had a great time! We got a really cute hat. I don't usually wear hats, but I like this one,” said Watson. “I'd definitely want to come back for ET Day next season.”
