We've all been there: your email inbox is already full to the brim, and in comes another mass email to all faculty and staff. But this problem is headed the way of the dodo thanks to “Inside ET,” our new biweekly publication for East Texas A&M faculty and staff, helping all of us stay informed and stay connected.

Every two weeks, “Inside ET” will bring together a refreshing mix of content, from employee accomplishments, professional development opportunities, important deadlines or reminders, and helpful information. This will serve as a one-stop shop for internal messaging to a faculty and staff audience.

As such, the launch of this new publication marks a change in the university's approach to broad employee emails. The periodic mass emails from different areas of campus, specifically aimed at faculty and staff, will now be streamlined through the Office of Marketing and Communications.

Faculty/Staff Announcements will also continue, but beginning next week, they will move from a daily schedule to twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. These will remain the place for campus-submitted announcements, events, training opportunities and other routine information, and you can continue using the existing submission process.

Every other week, on Thursdays, Inside ET will provide something different: a curated look at the top things faculty and staff need to know, accomplishments to celebrate and opportunities to get involved in the life of East Texas A&M.

This puts less stress on you–and your inbox–with fewer emails but greater value, as university-wide messages will be curated into one place. It will also help reduce the number of individual mass emails that faculty and staff receive. Our goal is to be more thoughtful about how we use your inbox and reserve standalone messages for information that truly needs immediate attention, reaches a significant audience or requires a clear and timely action.

Issues of “Inside ET” will also include regular communications from the university President and executive team, which will provide information and context on major developments, priorities and opportunities across the university, offering more transparency to faculty and staff about where ETAMU is heading and how everyone's work contributes to it.
