Reapply for Housing
Current residents living on campus may start the housing application process on April 1st. Residents must be registered for classes before they are able to sign housing contracts for the upcoming year. Students in the Nursing or Social Work program will need to meet with their advisor to get a Fall 2027 placeholder class added to their account due to late registration. Students who do not sign their housing contracts by May 8th will be required to go through the new student application process which includes paying the $125 application fee.
How to Apply
- myLEO > Apps > Residential Living and Learning
- Click the Apply Now button for the term you wish to apply on the housing portal homepage
- Complete the application
Timeline

May 7: Priority deadline for returning students to be registered and sign housing/meal plan contracts to receive a time slot to participate in priority room selection

- Current residents are required to be registered for fall classes before being allowed to select a room for Fall.

- If a resident is dropped from classes due to Academic Suspension, their housing and meal plan contracts, along with attached bookings, will be canceled. Once student is registered for classes, they may apply for housing again.
Off-Campus Housing
Non-affiliated off-campus housing is only available for students who are not required to live in University-owned on-campus housing. East Texas A&M University does not endorse any specific property. The non-affiliated properties may also provide accommodations to the greater Commerce community.
Room Changes/Waitlist
A student may submit a room change request through the Room Change/Waitlist request in the myLeo housing portal. Please note that room changes will not be approved until Residential Living and Learning Staff has been able to ensure that all residents have arrived and residents located in temporary housing have been placed in their permanent assignments. Residents are encouraged to speak to their Resident Assistant or Community Director if they have concerns with their room assignment. (Would you like me to link this to the community handbook?)

Room Condition Reports
staff inspect each room. During this inspection, the Resident Assistants (RAs) document damages and/or issues within the room and place work orders to address any concerns. Upon arrival to their assigned room, students inspect the room and complete the Room Condition Report via their Roompact account. Students have 72 hours after check-in to submit their Room Condition Report. (Would you prefer that I link it to the community handbook?)

Useful Phone Numbers
Duty Phone Numbers
Each residential community has student and professional staff available on duty to assist residents with questions, concerns, and after-hours needs. Duty coverage is provided from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, 24 hours a day on weekends, and during University closures, including holidays.
The student staff members available through these numbers are trained residential staff who live within the community and rotate duty responsibilities each night. They can assist with lockouts, community concerns, minor facility issues, and other lower-level needs, and they can connect residents with professional staff when additional support is needed.
In the event of an emergency involving a medical concern, immediate danger, or threat to safety, residents should always call 911 first.
Front Desks
Each residential community has a designated front desk that provides support and resources to residents. Traditional residence hall front desks (Phase II, Phase III, Pride Rock, and Whitley) are staffed by Desk Assistants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unless otherwise noted during University holidays or break periods. Apartment community front desks (New Pride and Prairie Crossing & F-Halls) are staffed daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. by Desk Assistants and Resident Assistants.
Desk Assistants (DAs) are student staff members who are available to answer general questions, provide assistance, and connect residents with appropriate Residential Living and Learning resources when needed.
Front desks provide access to shared community resources, including community kitchens and recreational equipment, and can assist residents with temporary keys for their assigned space. Residents must be assigned to the building and provide a valid Lion Card or Mobile Credential to check out items or access front desk services.
Roommate/Community Resources

Students can use Roompact to stay connected with residence life staff, access important information, and participate in programs and activities that support their on-campus experience.
