Annual Research Symposium: Abstract Guidelines

An abstract is a one-paragraph summary of a research project. It enables readers to quickly grasp the purpose and central ideas of the research project. It also lets other researchers, presenters, and attendees know whether the topic is of interest to them. The abstract is like an advertisement for the presentation, intended to convince the audience that the presentation is worth their attention.

Abstracts must contain no more than 300 words and should summarize the background for your research, research hypothesis, methodology, the results you have obtained, and their significance. Abstracts will be evaluated for conciseness and their accuracy in describing the research work. When formatting your citations, pay special attention to the style you are using (e.g., APA, MLA, etc.).

Abstracts should only be submitted in collaboration with a faculty mentor, who will be named on the presentation. Your application must include:
