University Sponsors Workshop for Mental Health Professionals and Veterans

A&M-Commerce has partnered with North Lake College to bring “Supporting Student Veterans in Higher Education” to North Texas. The Center for Deployment Psychology in Bethesda, Maryland pioneered this well-respected and vital program designed for behavioral health professionals working in higher education. The training addresses the social, cultural, clinical and campus-specific concerns of service members and student veterans.
“We are very fortunate to have secured this exceptional workshop opportunity for North Texas mental health professionals who work with college and university veterans,” said Nick Patras, LPC and Staff Counselor from the A&M-Commerce Counseling Center.
While the event focuses on supporting veterans in higher education, registration is also open to the private sector. Attendance is free with Continuing Education credits (CEUs) available for $25. Presenters include Dr. Elizabeth Parins and Dr. Kelly Chrestman of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
