Pride Marching Band Showcases Its Talents for State Marching Contest Audience

The East Texas A&M University Pride Marching Band recently wowed crowds with an exhilarating exhibition performance at the UIL 5A State Marching Contest in San Antonio, Texas, on November 10.

The performance, which took place at the iconic Alamodome, showcased the Pride's 2025 marching show, “ET: First Contact,” referencing the first full marching season as East Texas A&M and featuring a suite of space-themed tunes. Familiar melodies include “Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss, “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, and the theme from “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.” The Lion Dance Team also performed as part of the show.

The Pride earned multiple standing ovations from a crowd of more than 20,000 spectators in the Alamodome following the show. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Garth Gundersen. “ET: First Contact” was produced by the following personnel:

  • Show Design: David S. Duffy
  • Music: Justin Williams
  • Drill: Lindsey Schueller
  • Choreography: Michael Rosales
  • Battery: Jared Andrews
