Music Student Receives Scholarship from International Organization

East Texas A&M University Music major Bella Zitzelberger was recently named the recipient of the Sara Eikenberry Voice Undergraduate Scholarship by the Mu Phi Epsilon international professional music fraternity. The scholarship is awarded yearly to a mezzo-soprano or contralto undergraduate voice student and is worth $2,000.

Zitzelberger, a junior from Sachse, Texas, is pursuing her degree in Music Education and serves as president of the Beta Mu chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon at East Texas A&M. Chartered in 1967, the Beta Mu chapter represents the only professional music fraternity on the East Texas A&M campus. As a whole, the fraternity boasts over 75,000 members in more than 200 chapters and more than 100 alumni chapters in the United States and the Philippines.

“I am so grateful to have received this scholarship,” Zitzelberger said. “I plan to use these funds for tuition, conferences and performance opportunities.”

After graduation, she plans to pursue a master's degree in educational leadership and direct a middle or high school choir program.
