By Lion Athletics

East Texas A&M University men’s track and field sprinter Enoch Fosuhene was named to the Southland Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.

Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) competed in five races last week at the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational. He timed 20.52 seconds to win the 200 meter dash at the Bobcat Invitational, while also timing a wind-legal time of 20.81 seconds for eighth at the Texas Relays. He is the top 200 meter dash sprinter in the Southland.

He qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.13 seconds at the Texas Relays and came in sixth in the finals with a wind-legal time of 10.38 seconds. His time in the 100 meter dash is also the fastest by a Southland sprinter this season.

Fosuhene was part of the 4×100 meter relay squad that came within less than 0.25 seconds of qualifying for finals at the Texas Relays. The Lions timed 39.76 seconds, which was 10th at the meet and is ranked second in the conference thus far this outdoor season.

This is the first weekly honor for Fosuhene this season and first for the Lions in the outdoor season. East Texas A&M returns to action this weekend at the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station.
