East Texas A&M University track and field jumper Jenneil Jacobie is set to make history as she is the first Lion to qualify for an NCAA National Championships event in the Division I era.

Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) is among the 16 qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Indoor National Championships in the women’s high jump among all Division I programs. She is the only competitor not from one of the Power Four conferences in the field.

Having won the Southland Conference Championship in the high jump last week, Jacobie is the first Lion in any sport to be selected to a NCAA National Championships event in the Division I era. She is among just two student-athletes from the Southland Conference who will compete at this year’s Indoor National Championships.

Her season-best mark of 6-1.5 (1.87m) is seeded 10th among the 16 competitors. The mark is also a Southland Conference record as well as the best mark in program history.

The 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor National Championships are hosted by the University of Arkansas on March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. The women’s high jump event is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on March 14.

The top eight finishers at the meet in each event earn first-team All-America honors by the NCAA and earn a team score in the final standings.
