Ibrahim Fuseini Qualifies for World Athletics Indoor Championships
East Texas A&M University track and field sprinter Ibrahim Fuseini has qualified to run the 60-meter dash at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, on March 21-23.
Fuseini timed 6.51 seconds to win the 60-meter dash at the Jarvis Scott Invite on February 15. This set a new school record and also hit the minimum standard of 6.55 seconds for the World Championships, earning him automatic qualification into this month’s World Athletics Indoor Championships.
His bid into the World Athletics Indoor Championships follows a stellar 2024 season for Fuseini, during which he competed at the World Athletics Relays and also competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics for his home country of Ghana.
During the 2025 indoor season, Fuseini captured victories in the 60-meter dash at the Stan Scott and Jarvis Scott invitational meets in Lubbock and capped off his collegiate indoor season with gold medals in the 60-meter and 200-meter races at the Southland Conference Championships.
The full list of qualifiers will be released closer to the meet, with the first round of the 60-meter dash set for the morning session on March 21 and the semifinals and finals later in the day.
