From ETAMU to Amazon: Computer Science Alum Shares Career Journey
Tejaswini Atluri, an alumna of East Texas A&M University, was recently hired by Amazon as a software development engineer. On October 17, members of the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at East Texas A&M interviewed Atluri about her new job. ETAMU students interested attended the Zoom presentation to hear about her journey.
During the presentation, Atluri discussed the hiring process and how East Texas A&M played a pivotal role in her success in the job search after graduation.
Atluri shared that she graduated from East Texas A&M in May 2025 with a degree in computer science. As a graduate student, her role as a graduate assistant teacher in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems helped her gain experience and acquire more knowledge within the field while mentoring other students.
Atluri mentioned in her interview that she used the Office of Student Career Preparedness at East Texas A&M to help strengthen her resume and apply for on-campus jobs. This resource offers students a free opportunity to have their resume or cover letter reviewed by professionals, helping them refine it for job applications. She noted that the career fairs hosted by Student Career Preparedness allow students to network and have their resumes reviewed by companies.
“The best part about our department is that I feel like we can choose our own tracks,” Atluri said. “I felt that to be very helpful because we can get in-depth knowledge on what track we choose.”
She highlighted how impactful the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems has been in providing her with the experience and opportunity to learn about various aspects that have been essential to her career success.
