ETAMU Faculty Member Steps into MAC3 President Role
Arthur Lumzy Jr., executive director of Student Career Preparedness at East Texas A&M University, was recently elected president of MAC3, the Metroplex Area Consortium of Career Centers. The organization improves leadership and career center services and offers professional development in career counseling and employment services. It also encourages teamwork among career services offices, employers, and other stakeholders. The member institutions meet monthly to discuss issues and share best practices.
MAC3 began in 1994 when 18 colleges and universities from the Dallas-Fort Worth area came together. Now, a variety of colleges and universities partner to improve career services for students and alumni.
Lumzy has been an active member of MAC3 for 14 years and served as secretary in 2017. His new role as president shows his growth and commitment within this organization. At East Texas A&M, he leads strategic initiatives that connect classroom learning to real-world career opportunities, helping students prepare for meaningful employment after graduation.
“I’m honored to serve as president of MAC3, an organization I’ve been proud to be part of since 2012,” Lumzy said. “As career services have evolved over the past decade, MAC3’s commitment to sharing best practices and providing professional development has been invaluable. I am excited to continue our mission, further enhancing employment opportunities and post-graduate success.”
Dr. Ryan Erck, assistant vice provost for Academic Affairs and Student Success, also recognized Lumzy’s new leadership role:
“Arthur’s appointment as president of MAC3 reflects his leadership in advancing career readiness. His service in this role connects East Texas A&M to broader efforts aimed at strengthening workforce outcomes, and his selfless leadership aligns with our mission to prepare students for life after graduation.”
