Educational Leadership Graduate Continues Rise in Texas Public Education
East Texas A&M University alumnus Dr. Jason Adams has been named the lone finalist for superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District, a milestone that highlights the impact of the university’s educational leadership programs on public schools across Texas.
Adams earned a Master of Education (MED) in Educational Administration from East Texas A&M in 2007. He currently serves as deputy superintendent of Garland ISD and brings 28 years of experience in public education to the role.
The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees selected Adams following a nationwide search process that included feedback from students, staff, parents and community members. Under Texas law, the board must observe a 21-day waiting period before officially hiring a superintendent.
Adams’ selection reflects the mission of East Texas A&M’s Department of Educational Leadership, which prepares current and aspiring educators for leadership positions in schools and districts throughout the state. The department offers both MED and Doctor of Education (EDD) programs, as well as principal and superintendent certification programs designed to help professionals advance into leadership roles.
The master’s program emphasizes practical leadership skills in areas such as school improvement, personnel management, educational policy and organizational leadership. Courses are offered online, providing flexibility for working educators seeking career advancement while continuing to serve their schools and communities.
As Adams prepares to lead one of North Texas’ most prominent school districts, his achievement serves as an example of how East Texas A&M graduates are making a difference in public education and shaping the future of Texas schools.
