East Texas A&M Honors KETR staff member for Three Decades of Service
A recent article at ketr.org highlights East Texas A&M University's recognition of longtime KETR-FM staff member Matt Meinke, honoring his remarkable 30 years of service. Meinke was recognized by the university's Staff Council at a special awards ceremony on April 28.
According to the article, Meinke has been a central creative force at 88.9 KETR since the mid‑1990s, shaping the station's sound as production manager and hosting Notably Texan for nearly two decades.
Colleagues describe Meinke as a cornerstone of KETR's continuity, especially during recent challenges such as the station's move to temporary facilities.
The article notes that Meinke's impact extends far beyond on‑air duties. His work has spanned analog‑to‑digital media, changes in programming strategy, and the station's expansion into HD Radio and streaming platforms.
“From my earliest involvement with the station as a weekend board operator while studying radio/television here at East Texas A&M, to bigger opportunities in a full-time capacity that arose along the way, KETR has allowed me to carry out the career in radio I'd always dreamt of in my youth,” Meinke said. “I feel very fortunate to have been with 88.9 for so long, and I appreciate all the mentors and leaders who have given me the chance to flourish here. Big thanks to the Staff Council for this recognition and the lion trophy, and heartfelt gratitude to all who have listened to my voice on KETR through the years.”
East Texas A&M's recognition underscores not only Meinke's longevity, but also the value of local public radio and his dedication.
