East Texas A&M Alumnus Named General Manager of Maverik Center
East Texas A&M University alumnus Jeff Davis has been named general manager of the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, a premier venue that will play a role in the upcoming 2034 Winter Olympics.
Davis completed his undergraduate studies at ETAMU in 1999 with a double major in radio/TV production and counseling, and later earned a Master of Science in higher education administration in 2001. During his graduate studies, he began working full time for the university as coordinator of new media and programs. In that position, Davis advised the student programming board, helped plan major campus events such as Welcome Week, assisted with orientation and developed projects including the InfoScreen system, which displayed messaging across campus buildings.
After completing his master's degree, Davis transitioned into venue management. His early career included roles at the Dallas Convention Center and the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, where he developed an event services team.
In 2010, he joined the University of Texas at Arlington and went on to manage both College Park Center, a 7,000-seat multipurpose arena, and Texas Hall, a 2,600-seat performing arts venue. He also played a role in relocating the WNBA's Dallas Wings to College Park Center, where the team has competed since 2016.
Now, Davis takes on leadership of the Maverik Center, which seats up to 12,000 and is home to the Utah Grizzlies of the East Coast Hockey League. The arena gained international recognition during the 2002 Winter Olympics and continues to host top-tier concerts, family shows and sporting events.
Davis's career path highlights the professional opportunities that begin with an East Texas A&M education. From student programming and campus events in Commerce to managing large-scale venues and international entertainment, his journey demonstrates the reach and impact of the university's graduates.
