Ag Faculty Recognized with AAAE Outstanding Teacher Award

East Texas A&M University Mayo Professor of Agriculture, Food and Family Dr. Bob Williams was recently honored with the Western Region Outstanding Teacher Award by the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE).

Founded in 1930 as the American Vocational Association, AAAE is a premier national society for social science scholarship in food, agriculture and natural resources. The organization’s mission is to foster excellence in the discovery and exchange of evidence-based solutions for social science challenges in agriculture and related sciences.

Williams has taught at East Texas A&M since 1999, and also earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the university in 1977 and 1981, respectively. In addition to his teaching duties, Williams has also served as interim department head for Agricultural Sciences and interim associate director of the School of Agriculture. In 2023, he was recognized for his achievement and positive impact on East Texas A&M students with the title of Mayo Professor. The Mayo Professorship is the ultimate award bestowed by the university, and is given every three years to full professors who exemplify the spirit of university founder William L. Mayo: “ceaseless industry, fearless investigation, unfettered thought and unselfish service to others.”
