2-1-1 Texas Information and Referral Network

2-1-1 Texas, is a program of HHSC, is a free, anonymous and easy way to find out about services you can get in your area through state programs. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, 2-1-1 provides information on food and housing, childcare, crisis counseling and substance abuse treatment.
Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Program

The CSHCN Services Program at DSHS helps children with special health care needs and people of any age with cystic fibrosis. The program helps clients with their:

Healthy Texas Women

Healthy Texas Women is a new program that includes family planning services, related preventative health services that are beneficial to reproductive health, and other preventive health services that positively affect maternal health and future pregnancies.

Birthing Centers
BC Website
DSHS licenses birthing centers where pregnant women can deliver their babies. The mother and unborn child must not have had complications during the pregnancy.
Early Child Intervention (ECI) Services
ECI Website
ECI is a statewide system of services for families of babies and toddlers, birth to 3 years of age, with disabilities or developmental delays.
Maternity Homes and Pregnancy Care Centers
Texas Pregnancy Website
Maternity homes serve pregnant women with a broad range of services, regardless of whether or not an adoption is planned. Texas does not regulate maternity homes.
Pregnancy care centers are private agencies that provide pregnancy counseling and support services. Texas does not license pregnancy care centers.
Women, Infants, Children Services (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program

DSHS contracts with agencies and organizations to provide services under the WIC program. WIC provides nutrition education, nutritious foods, referrals to health and human services, breastfeeding support and immunizations at some clinics. Clients receive individual nutrition counseling and nutrition classes. Many clinics offer classes especially for children.

Outreach, screening, assessment, and referral (OSAR) programs are available to all persons looking for information about substance use services. OSAR programs can be the starting point for people who want help accessing substance use services and are unsure where to begin. OSAR services are incorporated into multiple local mental health authorities (LMHAs) and local behavioral health authorities (LBHAs) and are available in several locations across the 11 Texas Health and Human Services Regions. The district attorney works with law enforcement officers in the investigation and preparation of cases to be heard before the criminal courts. Duties include representation of victims of violence in protective orders and representing the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory services in removing children from abusive households.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Victim Services Division (VSD) has strategically placed Regional Victim Services Coordinators (RVSCs) to provide direct services to victims of violent crime.
