Guest Information
Doors will open one hour before each ceremony begins. Because we normally have back-to-back ceremonies, please be respectful of other guests arriving and leaving.
Parking
Parking permits are not required for this event. Non-disabled guests and graduates should park in lots 1, 2, 3, and 5. Parking lot 4 is reserved for guests and graduates with disabilities, and proper vehicle identification will be required. This lot should be accessed from Bois D'Arc St. Shuttle buses are free of charge and will be rotating throughout the parking areas approximately every 15 minutes.
Guest Entrance
All guests must enter through the entrance on the right side of the field house when facing the building, and it will be labeled.
Clear Bag Policy
A clear bag policy is a set of rules and regulations implemented by event organizers, sports facilities, and other institutions that require attendees to use clear bags to bring in their belongings. The policy aims to prevent hazardous items from entering the venue and is common practice at most large events such as sporting events, concerts, and graduations. This policy will be enforced at the door.
Allowed
Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags; small wallet-sized clutches; small medicine bags
Not Allowed
Clear bags that have buckles, hardware, or décor concealing the bag, backpacks, regular size purses, large totes, diaper bags, or other similar items
Tickets
Unless the graduate informs their guests otherwise based on information they've received from the graduation office, tickets are required for the commencement ceremonies, and ALL guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Please make sure you can access/retrieve your tickets prior to entering the building. Guests without tickets can view the livestream from the Rayburn Student Center on campus.
Accessibility
The bottom two rows of bleachers are reserved for guests with disabilities. Representatives from the Student Disability Services office will be available to assist. We do not have a wheelchair to be used for seating during the ceremony or for transportation to and from vehicles.
Guest Decorum/Behavior
The academic commencement ceremony at East Texas A&M University enjoys a rich tradition and is carried out with solemnity and dignity. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the occasion and the traditions of academia. In keeping with these traditions and for safety reasons, all candidates must refrain from any outstanding semblance of celebration as they proceed across the stage such as dancing, jumping, or other disruptive activities. Please inform your guests in the audience to refrain from making distracting noises (air horns, noisemakers) during this time since candidates proceed across the stage in a rapid order. Such interruption may override the name of the next graduate. Your cooperation in this matter is sincerely appreciated.
